Description

A beautiful 3-4 cm blue-eye endemic to rivers in the Aru islands, western New Guinea, and Australia’s Northern Territory. Egg-scatterer which should not be bred alongside other Pseudomugil to avoid hybridization.

Year Acquired:   2024

Acquired from Moonlight Aquatics. Group size of 8 females and 9 males. Some males had a variability in color on the tips of the caudal, pectoral, and ventral fins, ranging from yellow to orange.

Species Spawned:   Yes

Mop spawner, will hybridize so must be bred as the only pseudomugil in the aquarium.

Have Reared Fry?   Yes

Eggs were incubated at 80 F for ~14-18 days. Methylene blue was used in the first few days with water changes done periodically to remove methylene blue.
